For ten years with the Burlington School Food Project she has been sharing food and gardening adventures with students; for twenty years she’s served on the board of directors of the Intervale Community Farm Cooperative; and for twenty-one years she has coordinated the flower gardens at City Market/Onion River Co-op.

Bonnie’s work has been featured in Vermont Life Magazine and several books including The Art of Lake Champlain, Champlain’s Lake Rediscovered, The Community Land Trust Reader and Legendary Locals of Burlington, Vermont. Most recently she was named by the City of Burlington a “Burlington Community Treasure” on Bonnie Acker Day, November 4, 2013.
Her community artwork can be seen in several places including the Champlain Housing Trust, the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf, City Market/Onion River Co-op, the Integrated Arts Academy, and the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont.
Bonnie is a graduate of the Miquon School and Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia and Sarah Lawrence College; she studied further at the Massachusetts College of Art.
