| The Green Mountain Fine Art Gallery in Stowe is pleased to open “Flourish,” a show of new work by Vermont artist Annelein Beukenkamp. Meet the artist at the opening reception on Saturday, June 26th from 5 to 7 pm. Her collection of floral watercolor paintings is an exciting, up-lifting celebration of the beauty of flowers and the joy they bring to life. Beukenkamp has received many awards for her watercolors and is a Signature member of the appreciation of flowers, many varieties of which are depicted in her works. Her paintings have been featured on the covers of and within numerous art and flower publications. One of her paintings was recently selected for use on the Easter Seal Stamp – a highly competitive and greatly prized honor. Her work is owned in public and private collections worldwide. Watercolor is a unique medium. Children have their first painting experience with it, yet most professional artists agree that it’s the most difficult medium to master because of the challenges it presents, such as painting on a wet surface and the lack of white paint! White in a watercolor is unpainted paper. A watercolorist must balance a need for control with letting go. Beukenkamp’s ability to do this is the envy of many painters. Her backgrounds carve out bold blossoms and an errant drip will become a stem. Delicate shapes and flower textures are rendered with relaxed, confident brushwork that capture the essence of each flower. The vitality in her paintings comes from a bold palette that stays true to the blooms she paints. Green Mountain Fine Art Gallery represents 35 artists from throughout Vermont and the region. Media displayed in the gallery and in the sculpture garden include works executed in oil, watercolor, pastel, clay, stone, and metal. Open from 11 am to 6 pm daily, except Tuesdays.
