Green Mountain Fine Art Gallery presents: "Snow Light"
A new show of work by Vermont Artist Kathleen Kolb.
The Green Mountain Fine Art Gallery is pleased to present “Snow Light,” a collection of new winter paintings in oil and watercolor by nationally recognized Vermont artist Kathleen Kolb. The opening reception is on Saturday, January 14th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with comments by the artist at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The show will run through April.
Kathleen Kolb’s highly representational oil and watercolor paintings use light and exciting composition to turn ordinary Vermont scenes into extraordinary works that we connect with on a sensory level. She states, “My work is driven by two forces: a deep attachment to place and a passion for the visual effect of light on our everyday surroundings. I consider the power and beauty of weather, geography and human endeavor. For me, painting is immersing myself in the sensation of light amongst all these elements, with all it implies about both the present moment and the passage of time, working to hold that emotional reality with paint.”
Kathleen Kolb has been living in Vermont since graduating with a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. She also studied with Wolf Kahn and Janet Fish. A feature article about her work has appeared in American Artist magazine, and her paintings are included in John Driscoll’s beautiful book, “The Artist and the American Landscape.” She has shown at the National Academy Museum in New York and at exhibitions throughout the United States.
Green Mountain Fine Art Gallery represents 30 artists from throughout Vermont and New England. Media displayed in the gallery and in its adjacent sculpture garden include works executed in oil, watercolor, pastel, photography, clay, stone, and metal.
